David A. Johnson, better known as DJ Mo Dave, was born and raised in Chicago in the 1970’s during the early days of hip hop, the beginning of house music, and of course, classic R&B and Soul. In 1990, wanting a better chance to pursue the art of DJ'n, imaging & production for a living, Mo Dave headed west to Los Angeles and went on to become an award-winning club, radio, mix-tape DJ’s & On-Air Personality. In 2000, after more than a decade of playing venues throughout the U.S. & Internationally, Mo Dave began working with the legendary Dee Dee “Spinderella” Roper, member of the iconic rap group Salt-n-Pepa. For over a decade, DJ Mo Dave has co-hosted and produced two internationally syndicated radio shows with Spinderella, including the number one hit-radio-show The Backspin, a nationally syndicated radio show that highlights the best of classic Hip-Hop and R&B. In 2003, Mo Dave and Spinderella held down the highly rated afternoon drive on 100.3 The Beat in L.A. and have since toured extensively playing some of the biggest venues in America and around the world. Together, Mo Dave and Spinderella have branded a quintessential name for themselves by performing at major scale, international events including events for Nike, ESPN, Superbowl XLIII, the Academy Awards, the Kentucky Derby, the “Love Train” concert at the AAC in Dallas, and the NBA All Star Game. Modave has also received certified sales awards from the Recording Institute Association of America for contributing to the sales of over 20 Million albums.
At the present time, Mo Dave makes his home in Dallas and works with Old School 94.5 as the Imaging Director & On-Air Personality. His best asset continues to be his vast knowledge of all types of music and his constant exposure to an ever widening audience & the ability to adapt to any surrounding that finds him.
