SNL Adds Much Needed Diversity To Cast & Writer’s Pool

After much criticism Saturday Night Live (SNL) finally added an African American female cast member. On Monday SNL announced they hired the first black comedienne Sasheer Zamata. Zamata (pictured below) is the first black female cast member on the show since legendary singer, Minnie Riperton’s daughter Maya Rudolph.

More news reported today by the Hollywood Reporter SNL has hired two female African American writer’s. LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones will join the pool of writers starting January 13th.
