Jakob Murphy died on December 24, 2012 in a single car accident at the age of 24.
In his honor Cincinnati Bengals’ star Rey Maualuga decided to represent the late superfan by writing his name on his eye black during a game on December 30, 2012.
Murphy’s father explained how the gesture impacted the family, “Just the fact that someone honored our son that way. That helps us move forward a little bit.”
