FOX News Interview Illustrates Why Romney/Ryan Ticket Is A Fail

Chris Wallace Paul RyanOn Sunday, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan sat down with Fox News’ Chris Wallace to make his case as to why both he and Romney are the better pair to lead this country. When Wallace pointedly asked why Romney/Ryan were lagging behind in key polls across the country, Ryan explained that much of the public was unaware about the specifics of their policies. When Wallace asked Ryan what those specifics were, though, Ryan refused to offer them, highlighting why their presidential ticket continues to be a consummate fail.

After ”Fox News Sunday’s Wallace pointed out that it doesn’t make sense for Romney/Ryan to be losing the election at this point because of the high level of unemployment — no American president has ever won re-election with an unemployment rate of 8 percent — Ryan proceeded to blame President Barack Obama for their shoddy campaign:

“I think the pres has done an effective job of trying to confuse the issue and distort our positions and trying to distract people, Ryan said.

“We are going to give this country a very clear choice. [Either] you want stagnation and dependency [or] you want growth or opportunity. The problem we’ve had is that not everybody knows all of the specifics we have out there. Not everybody knows these plans are a five-point plan for the middle class.”

Seizing on the moment, Wallace then asked Ryan to offer the specifics that the public isn’t aware of, “Let’s talk specifics. You’re the master of the budget. So, briefly, let’s go through the plan.”

Given the opportunity, one would think — after all of the complaining about President Obama’s “distortion” tactics — Ryan would revel in explaining their platform to the public.

    But that’s not what happened.

After Wallace plays a clip with the President claiming that no matter how many times the Republicans say they will give specifics, they provide none, the ridiculous dialogue begins:

Wallace: The Obama campaign says independent groups say that if you cut those tax breaks for everybody 20 percent, it costs $5 trillion over 10 years. True?

Ryan: Not in the least bit true. Look, this just goes to show that if you torture statistics enough, they’ll confess to what you want them to confess to…

Wallace: But how much would it cost?

    Ryan: It’s revenue neutral.

Wallace: No, I’m just talking about the cut — we’ll get to the deductions, but the cut in tax rates, how much does it cost? What’s the percent?

    Ryan: It’s revenue neutral.

Wallace: No, it’s not revenue neutral unless you take away deductions. And we are going to get to that in a second. But the first half, does that cost $5 trillion?

    Ryan: No.

At this point, Ryan goes through dizzying verbal shenanigans, refusing to answer the key question.

Wallace: I have to tell you, you still haven’t given me the math.

Ryan: I don’t have the time [HE REALLY SAID THAT]…it would take me too long to go through all the math….

    Is he serious?

    Watch the madness here:

During the interview, you can just see the frustration on Wallace’s face as he repeatedly asks to learn the Romney/Ryan tax plan details but never gets a relevant answer.

One has to wonder if the Romney/Ryan ticket really doesn’t realize that they compromise themselves each day they refuse to provide concrete details about their dubious plans. As a matter of fact, they could easily replace the entire cast on “Saturday Night Live” with their non-answering answers.

By the end of the interview, Wallace is practically begging Ryan to give up the numbers.

    It never happens.

    Sound off!

And neither will their campaign for the presidency if they keep this up.
