President Barack Obama, who has made no secret of his love for b-ball, will appear with basketball great Michael Jordan, along with past and present hoop stars in New York City on August 22 for the “Obama Classic” fundraiser which will aid the president’s re-election campaign, The Oval reports.
The star-studded event will also feature Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, Sheryl Swoopes, Rajon Rondo, Penny Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, Dawn Staley and other esteemed ballers. Those who are salivating at the thought of shooting hoops with Jordan can continue to drool, Jordan is only scheduled for a dinner.
Obama campaign planners announced in an email that donors of the fundraiser could have a shot at an invite to the historic event. “Now stop dreaming and make it happen,” it reads. “You and a guest of your choice could join President Obama and some of the greatest basketball stars for a special night at the Obama Classic.”
The hoops-related cause is the latest in a string of raffles by the president’s fundraising spin doctors, most of them involving dinner or meetings with either the president, First Lady Michelle Obama, or Vice President Joe Biden.
Here is more on the event, according to The Oval:
“Pitch in $3 or whatever you can, and you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to win.
Hit the court with Patrick Ewing and Melo? Trade stories with the President? This is the kind of stuff your kids will tell their kids, and no one will believe it until you show them a photo.
Don’t worry if suiting up with hoops stars isn’t your thing.
I know you’ve got a kid or a friend who would love nothing more than to play with their heroes while you cheer them on from a courtside seat.
