Alexis M has engaged in a one-woman campaign to take on “Basketball Wives.” As a woman on a mission, Alexis has accumulated thousands of signatures for her petition to stop the production of a spinoff, “Ev and Ocho,” with the always-angry Evelyn Lozada and her fiancée Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
Alexis M has begun contacting major corporations to ask that they spend their advertising dollars elsewhere. She is also getting support from those of us who are tired of seeing women of color portrayed as feminine gang bangers, getting in each other’s faces and slapping one another to the ground. It’s nearly impossible to teach young people to avoid violence when it seems that these 30-somethings always turn to violence as the first resort.
When I see the image of Evelyn’s snarling face, I can’t help but visualize her as the angry kid in kindergarten, throwing violent temper tantrums when she didn’t get her way.
